Does a trade change the total money? Almost never. When a strategy sells one holding and buys another, it just moves the same dollars from one place to another — the only thing a trade itself costs is a tiny fee (a few cents on a hundred-dollar trade). What actually moves a strategy's total value is the price of what it holds, not the act of trading. That is why the line above drifts below or above $100,000 even on quiet days — prices moved, not the trades.

The book runs several simple, fixed rules side by side. Here is what each one does, in plain words.

Buy & hold

buys the whole basket once and just holds it.

Equal weight

keeps an equal amount in every name, evening it out each run.

Trend-following

holds only the names currently trending up; the rest sits in cash.

Top-3 momentum

rides the three strongest names of the last few months; the rest sits in cash.

Buy-the-dip in steps

keeps cash in reserve and buys the basket in steps as it falls from its peak.
